Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

This policy explains what information schoolboardevents.com ("School Board Events", "we", "us") collects when you visit the site, how it is used, and the choices you have. School Board Events is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Information we collect

We don't ask you to create an account, sign up, or enter personal information on this site, and we don't sell tickets directly here.

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically records basic technical information when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, which set cookies and collect information about your visit (see below). Embedded content from other services may also set their own cookies.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are viewed, how long visits last, what device and browser are used, your approximate location (city level), and which links are clicked. Google Analytics uses cookies and assigns your browser a random identifier.

We use the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) to measure how well our ads work and to show our event ads to people who have visited this site. The Meta Pixel records actions such as page views and clicks on ticket links, along with your IP address and browser information, and Meta may connect this to your Facebook or Instagram account under its own policies.

Google and Meta process this information on their servers, which may be outside Canada, including in the United States. You can limit or opt out of this tracking:

  • Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or adjust Google ad settings.
  • Meta: adjust your Facebook ad preferences and Off-Meta activity settings.
  • Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies, or block third-party tracking.

Cookies and your choices

When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all cookies, decline them, or manage them by category. Analytics (Google Analytics: _ga and _ga_* cookies, kept up to 2 years) is on unless you decline it. Marketing (Meta Pixel: _fbp and _fbc cookies, kept up to 90 days) stays off until you accept it. Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months, after which we ask again.

You can change your choice at any time using at the bottom of every page. When you turn a category off, we stop loading that service and remove its cookies.

Tickets and Eventbrite

Tickets are sold through Eventbrite. When you click a "Get tickets" button you leave this site, and any information you provide during checkout is collected and handled by Eventbrite under its own privacy policy. Our ticket links include a referral code so we can see how many sales came from this website. As the event organizer, Eventbrite shares order information with us (such as your name, email address and order details) so we can run the event, manage entry and contact you about the event you bought tickets for.

Third-party content on this site

  • Eventbrite hosts our event flyers and artist photos, so your browser loads those images from Eventbrite's servers.
  • Google Maps is embedded on event pages to show the venue location. Google may collect information when the map loads.
  • Instagram and other social links take you to those platforms, which have their own privacy policies.

These services may receive your IP address and set cookies according to their own policies, which we don't control.

How we use information

We use the information described above to operate and secure the website, understand how people find our events, measure and target our advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram, run our events, and respond to messages you send us. We don't sell your personal information.

Retention

Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its retention settings. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (no longer than 14 months), and Meta keeps Pixel data under its own policies. Event order information shared with us by Eventbrite is kept only as long as needed to run the event and meet legal or accounting requirements, or until you ask us to delete it.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent to its use. To make a request, contact us using the details below. For information held by Eventbrite, Google or Meta, contact those services directly.

Age

Our events are 18+. This website is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if our practices change, for example if we add a mailing list. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
